
Alasdair has taught Computer Science at the University of Manchester for over 20 years. His research at the University has been focused on microprocessors and microcomputers, and their associated operating systems, device drivers, compilers, and development environments. In 2000, he founded Transitive, based on technology developed in a University research project, to deliver cross-platform virtualization software to the industry.
Transitive is now the most widely-used virtualization solution world-wide, adopted by computer manufacturers such as Apple, IBM and Hewlett Packard, and used by over 10 million users.
