BEST YEAR YET FOR BIG CHIP ENTRIES
Record Number of Entries for the 12th Big Chip Awards
New Release 12 March 2010
The deadline for the Big Chip Awards ended this week with the largest number of entries to date, with 257 entries from 138 entrants all battling it out to win prestigious awards to celebrate North West companies excelling in the use of digital technology.
This is a record for the awards, and marks a 12.1% rise from the 226 entries received last year with entries from the brand new Little Chip Award for exceptional student achievement still to come in as the deadline for this award was specially extended to 5pm Friday 26th.
This year’s launch of the Big Green Chip Award brings the number of North of England Awards to three – including the Little Big Chip Award – and this was reflected in the large number of entries from outside of the Northwest.
Shaun Fensom, Chair of Manchester Digital, the organisation behind the awards said: "It is very exciting to see that the Big Chip Awards continue to grow each year and that creative organisations across the Northwest and beyond are taking the lead in creating the technology that will define the next decade.
"We have already received a record number of entries, but if you are an college or a university there is still time to enter the Little Big Chip Award for exceptional student achievement, the deadline for this award has been specially extended till the end of the academic term, Friday 26th March."
The entries will be judged by a panel of leading industry figures chaired by Michael Nutley, editor of New Media Age. The shortlist will be announced soon.
The Big Chip Awards will be announced at a luxurious awards dinner on Thursday 10th June 2010 at the Palace Hotel, Manchester.
